MEET THE DOCTOR
Dr. Jon Mark Thompson
From a young age, Dr. Thompson knew he would be a doctor or a professional soccer player. It's easy to see which dream became a reality! He is a native of the small town Cape Girardeau, Missouri and attended the University of Notre Dame where he was member of the men’s soccer team that won multiple Big East titles during his tenure. Go Irish! He received his dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and immediately attended an advanced residency program at the University of Florida. At UF, he learned to treat complex comprehensive dental cases, difficult root canal cases, and place implants among many other skills.
After moving to Nashville in 2013, he spent over 3 years as an associate training under H Clifton Simmons III - Tennessee's premier TMJ dentist - and volunteering at the Interfaith Dental Clinic. He enjoys traveling and almost any outdoor activity one can imagine, but particularly hiking, snow skiing and boating. He and his wife, Paige, have three children - Amelia, Quinn, and Maren - and one larger than life dog, Gunner, who also happens to be the official office mascot. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and Nashville Dental Society. Dr. Thompson's comprehensive approach, advanced technical training, and relentless pursuit of excellence help set HDS apart from other practices.
Dr. Thompson continues to be a student of dentistry. He has three and a half years of study and apprenticeship as an associate dentist with Dr. H Clifton Simmons III, a true pioneer in non-surgical TMJ care. He has almost 50 hours at the Dawson Academy, a leader in comprehensive dental care, over 100 hours with the Global Diagnosis Study Club, over 100 hours in orthodontics, and 130 hours of hours in the treatment planning, placement, and restoration of dental implants and integration of implants into comprehensive dentistry. The ability to integrate the reatment of TMJ disorders into a truly comprehensive framework and skillset makes Dr. Thompson standout even amongst his most distinguished peers.
His memberships include the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Nashville Dental Society, and
the Global Diagnosis Study Club, and the Occlusal Mastery Study Club. He is also Fellow Eligible in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and working towards fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
